A Detailed Review of F Secure Total

To start, I made an account on the F Secure Total website. The best part was that they didn’t require any credit card information or details to download a free trial. Hence, I started using this program in only five minutes.

Moreover, once the installation was completed, the above window opened on my screen.

Further, I found the interface simple yet alive, especially the color scheme the developers have employed.

My screen had an array of rectangular boxes with options and features.

• The first one was People and Devices. With this feature, I could manage the devices I wanted to run F Secure Total. Moreover, It’s also handy when trying to censor a minor’s gadget.
• Next, I cleared my system of malware using the Virus and Threats icon. On the bottom right corner was the Scan option. Thus, the software conducted a swift virus scan on my PC when I clicked it. Consequently, it found a malware file that it quarantined.
• After this, the Secure Browsing and Banking feature required me to enable a browser extension. Thus, this feature enabled me to manage and secure my online information and privacy.
• I tried the Passwords & Identity icon next. It had options to save passcodes and monitor data leaks. One feature which I found pretty practical was the Master Password Vault. Hence, I was able to secure all my online passwords behind this feature.
• The last rectangle constitutes the ID Monitoring feature, requiring me to enter an email address. Furthermore, it scanned all related information to that email for any breaches. Additionally, it provides real-time alerts to keep you secure around the clock.

Before using the Advance features of F Secure Total, you must set up the Google Chrome extension. Once you do this, it will allow you to conduct online protection and email defense.

Manage Devices

I used the People and Devices icon to add a device under the F Secure protection. Below are the steps.

1. First, I clicked on Manage under the People and Devices icon.
2. I clicked on Add Device or User.
3. Next, it offered three options, from which I chose “My Child’s Device.” You can also choose someone else’s device for a friend or family member.

4. I added the email address logged in on my child’s device.

5. An installation link appeared in my email, and I quickly installed the program on the required device.

Overall, adding devices to the software is straightforward and free of hassle. Additionally, I didn’t have to give away excessive information, and the procedure was practical.

Antivirus Scan

My experience with this feature was excellent. F Secure quickly performed the function, and my PC didn’t slow down. Moreover, the Scan took only two minutes to complete and provided the link to a detailed online report.

Thus, below are the steps to conduct this Scan.

1. I clicked on Scan under the Viruses and Threats icon.
2. A pop-up window appeared showing the scan progress.

3. Since my system had no threats, it showed the message “No harmful items found.”

If your system has any malware or threats, the software quarantines it. Next, you can select the action you wish to perform on it. For instance, you can delete the threat, and the program gets rid of it without hassle.

Website Blocking

The website blocking feature automatically restricts any fishy websites which may try to rob users of their money. Therefore, to set up this feature, follow the steps below.

1. First, I selected the “Secure Browsing and Banking” feature.
2. This brought me to a page with multiple options. To block unwanted websites, I clicked on Web Exceptions.

3. This generated a User-Account Control prompt asking if I wanted to allow the program to make changes. I selected Yes.
4. A pop-up window opened showing the Allowed and Blocked websites.

5. On the bottom-right of the window, I clicked on Add New and entered the website link to block, and clicked OK.

6. Later, when I tried to open the website, it stated F Secure blocked it.

I could follow the same steps under the Allowed icon to allow certain websites. Furthermore, when the entered website became unavailable within seconds, it confirmed the efficiency of this feature.

Additionally, it only takes a few seconds to make these changes to your browsing activities, making censoring and controlling a minor’s activity more accessible.

Furthermore, there is a banking feature in this icon. Moreover, F-Safe claims it will terminate all connections and applications it does not deem secure when you connect to your bank account. For example, I signed in to my account, opened Google and Facebook, and logged into each.

Accordingly, when I entered my account, a pop-up warning me about protection appeared at the top. However, it vanished before I could read it. Additionally, Facebook was still sending me alerts.

However, it does not specify what it deems unsafe. For instance, social media is dangerous. I can’t say more about the protection because I still need to figure out what it does. Hence,it could have worked, or it could not.

Password Protection

I installed the Password Manager on my system to protect my passwords.

1. First, I launched the Password Manager.
2. Next, I clicked on Create Master Password.

3. I created the password and clicked on Save Recovery Code to save it on my computer.
4. Next, I clicked on Add New in the window’s top right corner and added the password details. Additionally, you can add credit card details here.

Later I could access my saved passwords by adding the master password to the password manager. Consequently, this tool is useful when you have multiple banks and social media accounts.

However, there is one risk. If you forget the master password, you could lose access to your saved passwords and credit card information.

ID Monitoring

The ID monitoring feature is a proactive security program that checks identity thefts associated with a specific email. Thus, below are the steps to set it up for your email.

1. I clicked on the ID Monitoring icon.
2. I added my email address and received a confirmation link.

3. The program then conducted a security check and confirmed no breaches had occurred.

Considering F Secure Total’s features, its price is justified. Furthermore, Spam filters and online backup can be convenient in the long run. However, I would prefer F Secure to introduce its Firewall rather than the system Firewall.

By looking at the individual software’s features, it can take time to decide if F Secure suits you. Therefore, I have compared it with another renowned software Norton 360, to give you an idea of what you’re getting.

Both software offers real-time protection and exceptional features. Also, Norton delivers security through Norton 360 email and Deluxe plans.

On the other hand, futuristic security is provided by F-Secure Computer Protection. Thus, thanks to threat intelligence and pattern recognition, it proactively protects against ransomware and zero-day assaults.

In addition, consumer and business products benefit from the improved protection level and functionality of F-Secure Ultralight.

Products and Features

F Secure offers antivirus protection services to protect your system from harmful programs.

Further, its VPN feature lets you protect your online privacy. In addition, its password protection and real-time alerts allow users to know if identity theft or other hacking occurs.

However, the feature I love most about F Secure Total is its Game Mode.

Thus, I could maintain my PC’s performance and speed even with F Secure enabled by turning it on. In addition, Game Mode optimizes protection and Windows functionality for a continuous experience.

Norton offers its products in multiple plans. First is the Norton AntiVirus Basic, whose star features include antivirus and a password manager.

Next, the Norton Security Standard plan delivers a dual Firewall and optimum customer support. After this, the Norton Security Deluxe plan brings a web portal feature for customers. Moreover, other practical features include Disk Optimizer.

Lastly, Norton Security Premium is the most expensive product plan on Norton’s list.

Consequently, it includes cloud uploading, family security apps, and automatic file back-ups.

Considering F Secure Total’s features, its price is justified. Furthermore, Spam filters and online backup can be convenient in the long run. However, I would prefer F Secure to introduce its Firewall rather than the system Firewall.

User Interface

Norton’s main window offers Settings, Performance, Feedback, Account, and Support features.

Further, you’ll locate the Computer and Network Protection options if you explore a little. Unfortunately, even though its main window has a professional look, the dark colors can be challenging to focus on.

Meanwhile, F Secure keeps things simple and light with a white background and features neatly aligned in rectangular boxes. Hence, after trying out both programs, I preferred F Secure Total’s user interface.

Products and Features

I’ve already discussed F Secure Total’s products. In contrast, McAfee offers its services in the form of three plans. The first is for individual users. Next, they offer the family plan; the third product is their Multi-device plan.

I already mentioned how impressed I am by F Secure’s Game Mode feature. However, some of McAfee’ ’s offerings elicited a similar reaction. For instance, its EndPoint security delivers maximum protection. The proactive approach to defending your system against threats is the best part.

Further, its Email Security feature is as good as F Secure Total. Thus, let’s look at some of the features to compare the two programs.

Cost

User Interface

A toolbar at the top of McAfee’s user interface gives users access to its many features. These include PC Security, Privacy, and Accounts. On the left, a vertical rail in a dark grey color shows how secure your system is.

A large white window takes up the majority of the screen and changes to display various functionalities. Unfortunately, only scanning choices and a link to a different tool for deleting cookies and trackers are displayed on the Home Page of this window.

Despite having a less-than-ideal design, this interface is nonetheless simple to use.

Meanwhile, F Secure Total displays its features in rectangular boxes, which are easy to navigate. Further, there is a menu on the top-left corner of the screen. Here you can easily alter your account settings and subscriptions.

Hence, F Secure is slightly better since its interface is more accessible and there’s better space utilization.

Overall, this security package is excellent. However, they could have somewhat overdone this. After noticing their disparate offerings, they sought to combine several other businesses services.

I preferred including parental controls, antivirus protection as essentials, and internet banking as a plus. However, I still need to figure out what it accomplished.

The VPN and the Passcode Defender are components I could go without.

Further, the VPN drags you to a crawl. Therefore, it must be fixed or put away so that people who need it can buy it individually.

In conclusion, this software could go a long way with slight adjustments. Regardless, it’s worth the cash, thanks to its ease of use and efficiency.
